AFAM Awards 2022 Nominees

AFAM Awards 2022 Nominees

Every award show seeks to highlight the effort of recipients in varying fields. Awards are recognition for excellence, consistency and an immense contribution to a given cause.
In the Fashion and Arts industry, especially one for Africa (to the world), by Africa, a number of players come to field.

To create the magic that we see on the runway and on the global front, different creative
processes have been walked through. Invariably, a lot of people have engaged these processes.

We see that, to make a typical showcase of a clothing line or collection, the designers visualize and
create designs, the artists draw and paint stellar pieces on nicely done canvases; the models strut
beautifully in them, makeup and hair are handled by talented makeup artists and hairstylists; pictures
are taken by a photographer who has earned a ‘PhD’ in angles. Oh, let’s not forget the music. What’s a runway show or life without it? Then there are fashion bloggers who create the buzz and let us know what’s to come. Everyone – becomes an intricate part of the process on the runway and beyond.

Every year AFAM recognizes individuals in different categories who have contributed greatly to the fashion industry in British Columbia. This is a way to honor outstanding individuals in the fashion industry, shine the spotlight on the beautiful work of African creatives and encourage the immigration into the African fashion industry by other young Africans aspiring to gain entry. We understand that, often, African creatives and humans in general, desire a pat on the back to keep them going.

It doesn’t matter how many times you win an award. It is always very special – Zinedine Zidane

African Fashion and Arts Movement Awards, also known as the AFAM Awards recognizes African Entrepreneurs who are or have positively impacted the African Fashion and Arts Movement in British Columbia. AFAM Awards is an annual celebration of the industry’s remarkable thought leaders, entrepreneurs and change makers.
